Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 12, 2026
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Bonyé collects, uses, and shares information when you use our app.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide such as your email address, display name, sign-in method, profile details, wellness preferences, meal photos and descriptions, exercise descriptions, nutrition logs, exercise logs, weight entries, subscription status, and settings like goals and units. If you enable Apple Health, we read Active Energy Burned data and related workout energy information used by the app. We also collect app diagnostics, sync status, and limited usage data to keep the service reliable.
2A. Photos, Face Data, and Biometrics
Bonyé does not use face recognition, face geometry, or biometric identification. We do not collect, derive, or store face templates or any biometric identifiers from a person's face. Users may optionally upload meal photos or a profile photo, and those images may incidentally contain a face if the user includes one. When that happens, the image is handled only as a user-submitted photo for meal logging, sync, or profile display, not as face data.
3. How We Use Information
We use your information to provide meal logging, exercise logging, estimate nutrition, estimate workout structure, calculate daily targets, add exercise calories to your baseline totals, sync data across devices, manage subscriptions, and support your account. We also use data to improve performance, troubleshoot issues, maintain offline-first syncing, and provide customer support.
4. AI Processing
Meal photos, meal text descriptions, and exercise text descriptions are processed by Google Gemini through our Supabase server-side proxy to generate nutrition estimates or structured exercise breakdowns. Profile details stay in your account, although some feature requests may use selected profile inputs such as body details, goals, or user-selected wellness context to improve results. Calorie calculations and saved log values may also be derived locally in the app after AI returns structured data. Do not submit sensitive information you do not want processed for this purpose.
4A. No Face Recognition Use
If a submitted photo incidentally includes a person's face, Bonyé does not use that image for identity matching, face recognition, advertising, profiling, or any biometric purpose. The app only uses submitted photos to support meal logging, nutrition estimation, account sync, and optional profile photo display.
5A. Photo Storage and Disclosure
User-submitted photos, including any photo that incidentally contains a face, are stored in our cloud infrastructure to provide syncing and account features. Meal photos may also be processed by our AI service provider through our server-side proxy to generate nutrition estimates. We do not sell face data or share it with third parties for facial identification.
6. Retention & Deletion
You can delete logs in the app and you can delete your account within the app, which removes stored account data from our active systems. Some locally cached data may remain on your device until the app is removed or local storage is cleared, and limited backups may persist temporarily for operational reasons.
6A. Retention of Photos That May Include Faces
If a user-submitted meal photo or profile photo incidentally contains a face, that image is retained only for as long as the related content remains in the account, unless deletion is requested earlier. Removing the photo or deleting the account removes it from active systems, with limited temporary backup retention for operational recovery.
7. Your Choices
You can control permissions in your device settings, including camera, photo library, notifications, and Apple Health access. You can also disable Apple Health in the app, remove individual meal or exercise logs, edit logged values, and manage your sign-in methods and subscription settings through the app or your Apple account settings where applicable.
8. Security
We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect your information, including authenticated access controls, server-side AI proxying, and row-level access rules for synced account data, but no system can be 100% secure.
9. Children
Bonyé is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us to remove it.
10. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date and, if changes are material, provide notice in the app.
